Is there a minimum dollar amount that I can list?
You may list any account with CBS. We do not have any minimum dollar limit. We handle both commerical and consumer accounts.

Can I list an account that is out of State?
Yes, we will attempt to do all we can to collect the account within our office.  However, if it appears that an agency which is located closed to the debtor maybe able to better affect recovery, we will forward the account. Credit Bureau Services is affiliated with American Collectors Association (ACA) and only forwards to agencies that adhere to a high standard of ethics.  If forwarded, CBS will continue to monitor the progress on the account and assist in it's recovery.

When accounts are listed with CBS will they automatically be reported on the consumer's credit report?
CBS' files are sent monthly to a national CRA. New accounts are added and paid accounts will be marked paid.

Do I have to have a contract with the debtor to list the account? 
While a signed contract is alway recommended, it is not required. 

What do I need to list an account?
If you do not normally use a collection agency we recommend you provide us with a detailed account.  This maybe an itemized statement, signed contracts, etc.  By providing that information initially we will have all the necessary documents to affect collections. Required information is name, address, data of last charge, date of last payment, and balance.

Can I list a small claims judgment?
Yes, we require a copy of the signed judgment, current information on the debtor (address, employment, etc) and an accounting of any monies that have been received on judgment.

How do we know when the account has been listed for collection?
CBS will send an acknowledgement to you on the day the account is posted into our system. That very same day a notice is sent to the debtor.

What if I receive a payment on the account after I turn it in for collection?
If you receive a check we strongly recommend that you forward the check to our office. Our system and procedures were designed to handle potential problems; ie if the check is dishonored or restricted endorsements.
If you receive cash Federal Law requires that you must notify us immediately so that we can update the consumer's information and correctly report it to the CRA's.

What happens to my account if the consumer files bankruptcy?
CBS will notify you once we receive the bankruptcy notice, we strongly suggest you immediately file a claim with the bankruptcy court. If the bankruptcy is dismissed we will contact you and resume collection. If you should be notified of bankruptcy on an account that is being worked by CBS, we ask that you please confirm this information with our office.
